For this LENS assignment I chose to draw a picture. As you can see the item chose to draw is The Statue of Liberty with angel wings along with the two things that Fatima wished she was able to see while she was in New York. One main reason I chose to draw a picture instead of writing a paper was because at certain points through Orange Houses some of the descriptions of how things looked and appeared to Tamika were so vivid and clear that I could picture the scene in my mind. This is one of those scenes that as I was reading the book I could picture exactly what I wanted to draw and how I wanted it. The scene was when Fatima and Tamika try to go and see The Statue of Liberty but do not make it the whole way due to the weather. So instead of going back home they decide to take the paint that they had found earlier in the book and paint their own Statue of Liberty with one difference, this Statue of Liberty has angel wings that are brightly colored just like the small angels Fatima makes throughout the book. When they paint this picture I feel as though it represents what their friendship means to them, what freedom means to them, and how they feel the world should be.
