The importance of this novel in reguards to writing and yound adults is vastly important and insightful. The young adults in this story are asked to write about a variety of aspects that they are interested in and from this produce beautiful works of art. \par \pard\sa200\sl480\slmult1\tab As a future teacher of English this novel showed me some very important insight into what is successful for young adults and some of the problems with our current style of education. The current philosophy of writing instruction is focused on learning the writing style of specific tests and also engaging in discussions about novels and poetry. Overall students are to be able to write concise, clearly organized, and insightful writing that accomplishes a specific purpose. This book has shown there is another reason that writing is so important. Writing is the expression and creation of something beautiful and is something that most of our current schools are not creating for their students. Although it is important for every student to be able to write effectively, writing also serves another purpose that is mostly forgotten. Students have a voice and as a future educator, it is necessary for me to have all students feel that their voice is not only important but being heard. Having students write about their feelings in a variety of different settings would allow them to look and reflect upon their lives but while serving as a healthy tool to become a better and more well rounded individual.
