Above is a link to my "Hunger Games" Wordle. When our group did this collaboratively in class, we found that doing it ourselves had many more benefits than doing it through a word generated process. It got me thinking that a great lesson as a future teacher, could be assigning students to create a Wordle using a computer where the words are generated at random, and then construct their own by hand.

Having them do this will allow them to draw comparisons that a computer could not make. Such as matching words that correspond to each other with the same color, font, or size. After students created their own hand-made Wordle, that leaves much more room for creativity, they can then write a short paragraph explaining the comparisons they have made and why. The complete product should be one that would make for great classroom decor as well as a fantastic study tool and reference.

This transmediation allows for, of course, different interpretations. However, that can be a great way to spark discussion and debate amongst students. I also believe the challenges this assignment would present would be academic, beneficial ones. Students would be forced to understand the relationship between the words they have chosen in connection to the text.
